Company descriptionBack in 1979 two brothers, Agathoclis and Andreas Constantinou founded the company A & A Constantinou Bros Ltd with the aim of developing land, and saw that the then fishing village of Kato Paphos had enormous potential for development as a commercial centre and tourist resort. At the time Cyprus was still reeling from the disastrous effects of the 1974 Turkish invasion and with much of the island’s prime agricultural land and resources as well as its best known tourist destinations under occupation, Cypriots were striving to overcome difficult economic conditions. There was plenty of prime land in the west, the market was ready for far-sighted and creative individuals to make their mark and A & A Constantinou Bros Ltd lost no time in going ahead and developing the area. The company created projects comprising shops and apartments in the tourist and commercial areas, as well as villas with pools and landscaped gardens in the residential areas of Paphos and in the surrounding countryside. The company has built over 220 centrally located shops, 320 quality apartments and more than 100 luxury villas. In addition around 200 plots of land have been divided and sold. Perceiving Paphos as a holiday destination of great potential, the Constantinou brothers decided to enter the hotel industry and in the late 1980s they formed the sister company Constantinou Bros Hotels Ltd. The company already had the foundations to begin construction immediately on the 3 - star Paphian Bay Hotel; it already had its own resident architects and draughtsmen as well as its own construction department. Over the following years the company constructed and opened four more hotels, namely the 4-star Pioneer Beach, the 5-star Imperial Beach (which was later sold to the Church), the 4-star Athena Beach and the 4-star deluxe Athena Royal Beach hotels.
